Creed

London · 1760 · Fragrance

In 1760, James Henry Creed of London captured the attention of King George III with his custom-tailored, leather-scented gloves, prompting the King to commission a personal fragrance. This marked the creation of Creed's first perfume, Royal English Leather. The House of Creed was thus declared the official fragrance supplier to the throne, serving not only the King but the entire royal court.

In 1854, Empress Eugénie, wife of French Emperor Napoleon III, requested that The House of Creed relocate from London to Paris to serve her directly. Honoring the Empress's wishes, the Creed family moved the House—after nearly a century in London—to Paris, where it remains today, in the same prestigious location chosen by the Empress herself.

In the years that followed, The House of Creed continued to craft bespoke fragrances for royalty and elites alike, from the King and Queen of Austria-Hungary to the King and Queen of Spain. For over 250 years, the House has served more than ten royal families, making it one of the oldest family-owned businesses in the world. Its illustrious clientele has also included such names as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Elton John, Victoria Beckham, Kevin Costner, Angelina Jolie, and Russell Crowe.

Headquartered in Paris, The House of Creed is led by master perfumer and company president Olivier Creed, with his son Erwin Creed working alongside him as the House's seventh-generation successor.
